morning sunlight

I am in the hills of Corsica. The dawn haze has burnt off, and the morning sun is bright. The air is crisp. There is a clarity. And with this bright sunshine, the birds are happy, the flowers have turned themselves to face the sun, the bees are buzzing. The world is alive.

And in me, feeling all this, melting into it all, a gentle joy comes to the fore: the joy of being, the joy of existence. And looking at the dewdrops, dazzling, refracting this bright light into every colour of the rainbow, I am reminded that life is a miracle. And we are part of that miracle. A leaf hangs from a spider's thread. It's dancing as if there is a breeze, and yet there is none. There's a deep mystery hanging in the air, the suchness of existence. But above all, the joy, the joy of life.
